Strathaven 21 v 19 Moffat

Saturdays 12th Sep Result

Strathaven 21 v 19 Moffat

Positive point for rams Newly promoted Moffat Rams traveled up the M74 to take on Strathaven on their first outing in the BT west league 3.

The rams started as they finished last year by dominating the scrums for most of the match, the new comers proving why they deserve to play in the higher league but this was going to be a tight game.

Some good decision making and some good first time tackles allowed strathaven to take the lead, this was the wake up call the rams needed with determination the rams got on the score sheet a few times when the rams started to open up the opposition exploiting spaces.

The rams secured a losing bonus point but felt hard done by as the win was there for the taking. A lot of positives to take home from our first game in west 3 against a team who missed out on promotion to west 2 last year, but also some valuable lessons learned on how to keep pressure on and grind out those tight results.

Final score was 21-19 to strathaven with Reese Howe, Mark Smith and Callum Braid scoring for moffat.

Moffat will face off against Millbrae at home in round 2 of the bowl with a 2:30 pm kick off, with the rams at home for the first time this season there will be our annual fun day from 12pm with a kids raffle, inflatables, BBQ, a bar and music before the first team take to the park.

This weekend also sees the s1/s2 team play loch lomond at Annan and the under 16s are away to wigtonshire both with 1pm kick offs.
